Silvia Andújar

Silvia Andújar Villajos has Higher Technician Degree in Control and Analysis. From 2002 to 2007, she worked in the private industry where she performed chemical and microbiology analyses of water. In 2007, she joined the Instituto Murciano de Investigación y Desarrollo Agrario (IMIDA). During that period, she collaborated on different projects related to fruit tree nutrition and ecological pest management. Since 2013, she joined the Microbiology and Quality Group at the CEBAS-CSIC, where she carried out activities related to microbial food safety and disinfection byproducts (trihalomethanes and chlorates) in fresh products and washing water.

RESEARCH INTEREST

Currently, her activity is focused on the quantification and identification of microorganisms related to food safety and other activities related to the physicochemical characterization of process water in the fresh-cut industry. In addition, she has carried out the analysis of water from wastewater treatment plants to detect the presence of SARS-COV-2.
