Natalia Hernández

BIO

Natalia Hernández Acosta has Higher Technician degree in Analysis and Quality Control in 2001 at the I.E.S Juan Carlos I Institute in Murcia. In 2006, she started her research activities at the Laboratory of the Public Health of the Reginal Government (Region of Murcia), where she conducted physico- chemical analytical techniques and microbiological determinations in different programs of vigilance, control and protection of Public Health. In 2007, she joined CEBAS-CSIC in the Department of Food Science and Technology, in the Group of Quality, Safety and Bioactivity of Plant Food as high qualified technician. Throughout these years, she has been collaborating in many different National Projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitivenes (Cicyt, Innpacto, etc ) and International Projects (Centre for produce safety, CPS), as well as in private projects in collaboration with companies (e.g., Florette, and Citrosol). She continues developing her professional labor as a member of the Microbiology and Quality team.

RESEARCH INTEREST

Her main activities are focused on quality and safety aspects, by measuring soil, water and fresh product from the field to the consumers. She has been involved in the development of different methodologies for quality determinations, such as sensory analyses (as a member of a trained panel), image analysis, physico- chemical and microbiological parameters of different water sources, extraction of samples for sugars and phenolics, pH, conductivity, texture analysis, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, HPLC-MS, spectrophotometry, and microbiological analysis (total aerobic bacteria, phycotrofic bacteria, fungi and yeasts, Enterobacteria, coliforms, and pathogenic bacteria such as E-coli and Salmonella, Bacteriophages and viruses such as SARS-COV-2 from water disinfection plants.). In addition, after data analysis she prepares the data and do their graphical representation.
